New school year

We officially started school today! All went fairly well- despite the painter still being here doing the last touch ups. We started the day with Scott and had a time of family worship and Bible study. Then we straightened up the house and made breakfast together. After breakfast, we gathered around the table and had a grammar lesson all together about prepositions and we actually tied in an art activity with prepositions in the starring role:) and then they each completed their daily grams for the day. We then did math and typing and that was about all for today.
We are doing a new coop this year called Credo and it officially starts on Friday and all the children will be doing science and history. Anna is doing Apologia Biology and Gileskirk history, while Ben and Claire are doing Answers in Genesis science and Mystery of History for history.
Even John has a class where he will be doing history and Considering God's Creation science and Yonea is teaching the little ones a bit of Latin! Oh my!
It was so nice at our CREDO planning meeting last week to be given a syllabus for the whole semester all typed out with what each child should be doing each week. It was even in calendar form with work for each day spelled out! I am excited about this and I hope it goes well. I usually only plan a week at a time for school so it is great to have the whole semester planned out in science and history at least!

So, next week we will add in history, science, spelling and more Bible time. I am still pondering what to use for Anna's writing and literature class. I am trying to make that decision this week and begin that in a couple of weeks as well.

I am glad to be able to teach the children at home and as I realize my many inadequacies in this arena, it turns my gaze to the One who is completely Sufficient and who is the Great Teacher and I am blessed and encouraged as I turn to Him for strength and wisdom and patience and all those other qualities that He supplies as we walk with Him and abide in Christ. How wonderful it is for us to ponder His amazing love and mercy and care for us on a daily basis. He supplies our needs as we humbly come to Him. I am looking forward to this year of living, laughing, learning and loving with my children as we seek His face together.
