Home

For the past three days I have actually gotten to stay at home!! It has been a wonderful time of not having to rush school, having time to do read alouds, do some organizing and teaching of chores to the children, and even some exercising and cooking.
We had very little electronics allowed today and it was such a blessing to watch the younger kids especially start to use their imagination in playing. I was thrilled to see John and Claire run through the kitchen several times on their mighty steeds chasing who knows what but totally lost in an imaginary land! We also had a good long Bible study this morning with a lot of helpful discussion, prayer and praise. I am so thankful for days like these.

On a side note, tonight at church Pastor John started a new series of Wed. night historical talks. He talked about the 1700s and how that time culturally mirrors our times pretty well and how people were concerned about the moral condition of the country. The church people tried reforms in many areas(stricter laws, taking doctrine out of church, etc) but their efforts failed because Christ and His Glorious gospel was not the focus.
We today try so many things to try to make things better - we try to steer our children toward a Christian worldview, to stress the importance of family, to live out moral lives in front of our children(while these are not bad in themselves) - none of this will change their hearts. We can point them to Christ over and over and over again and pray that HE will change their hearts and redeem them fully. And for Him to actually awaken them from their spiritual death is their only hope.

I am reminded of my futile attempts at reforming them and how I can only point them to the One that can truly change them from the inside out. Our homeschooled children may be moral, kind, and mannerly but when they are out of our control and sight they will follow what their heart truly desires- whether that is their own pleasure or whether, if their heart has been made alive to Christ, they will desire His glory.
I pray for my children and all the children that I know and love that they will be transformed by His love as they go to Him daily for all that they need.
